After a busy week this looks like being a quieter day, but lets get started.

Ahh... Twilight & MTV awards day today. No doubt tomorrow's news will be full of Twilight being the bestest movie ever, as voted by tweeny sparklie loving veggie whiny vampire fans. First links of what will no doubt be many are here. Here is the official MTV piece on the awards (Thanks to Deaana at Vampire Cafe for spotting)

QuietEarth has done a review of "Blood : The Last vampire" here.
This isnt new, but i just spotted it today - for those of you that like to read up on vampire lore and it's origins, have a look at this.
Possibly the big news of the day...UK Tabloid TheMirror has news that Jennifer Ellison is to have a role in "Carmilla" based on the cult Victorian novel of the same name which pre-dated Bram Stoker's Dracula by 25 years.
A piece from Gabrielle Faust's Eternal Vigilance site now. Angeline Hawke's collection of Horror has gone on sale here.
Taliesin's review of the day is "Black Blood Brothers" a 12 part vampire anime series.
Blog news i'll start putting down here... added a few bits today! I've created a "Vamps on Stage" calendar, that hopefully over the coming weeks as i find stuff, i will populate with vampire plays, musicals and productions wherevere they may be. I've also added the Sublime Requiem forum to the links, and created a little chunk for Vampire Communities - sites that have forums but a lot more content to go with them. So far that section has the Darkness Embraced site, and the Vampirefreaks site. Finally...I got tired of the default bland logo at the top so i spent 15 mins in photoshop knocking something together that i think looks ok.

Lots of sites are still running with the Buffy remake news, and more to the point that none of the major players from the tv series are going to be involved...no spike, willow, buffy, angel etc, and no Joss Weldon to direct it. Nothing has changed since the piece on the blog a couple of days ago.
Two pieces from Gabrielle Faust's Eternal Vigilance site now. Red Scream Vampyres and Red Scream Nosferatu. Twilight this is NOT! There are fangs, blood, gore and violence! Vampyres is now available from amazon, and pre-orders are being accepted for Nosferatu.

Big news today is speculation that Buffy the Vampire Slayer is going to get a second film...lots of sites running with it, but as far as i can see there is nothing signed, just interest from the director of the first film (Fran Rubul Kuzui, NOT Joss Weldon) and talks about it. Blood : The Last Vampire gets some muscle behind it...
Firstly...an item that isn't vampire news, but i had to share.
The Hollywood Reporter is stating that Tommy Wirkola, whose horror film Dead Snow was picked up by IFC at Sundance, has sold a pitch for... wait for it... a sequel to "Hansel and Gretel" in which the children have grown up and left the gingerbread house to roam the world as... wait for it... witch hunters. Gary Sanchez, Adam McKay and Will Ferrell will produce the horror/comedy/action mash-up.
"The idea is, they've grown up and they hunt witches," said McKay. "It's a hybrid sort of old-timey feeling, yet there's pump-action shotguns. Modern technology but in an old style. We heard it and we were just like, 'That's a freakin' franchise! You could make three of those!'"
OK, back to Vampire stuff. here is some news, and some good news at that.
Sony has announced it has acquired the rights for Blood : The Last Vampire, and it sounds as though they are planning to put a lot of effort into its release and marketing. Full article is here.
A little True Blood news, some new behind the scenes footage...I'll just quote the story.
Starting today fans can visit the site and view such content as behind-the-scenes footage including interviews with director Alan Ball and actors Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, character pieces and a first-season recap. The site also features an excerpt of Harris’ upcoming book in the series Dead and Gone (coming out May 5 from Penguin), a Q&A with Harris, an author essay and a look at upcoming book covers for the series.
TVtropes.org has a little piece entitled "The Immortal Procreation Clause" - has some vampire bits in there.
News of a film - The excellent Suburban Vampire has unearthed this - Gothkill. Released May 12. "Can a group of Goths and wanna-be vampires hold their own when the real thing arrives? The cult New York midnight movie Gothkill--coming to DVD May 12--shows what happens when a bloodthirsty dead man who made a deal with the devil shows up in 21st-century New York."
A trailer for Gothkill is here.
