This is better! Weekends seem to make the vampires hide, hardly had anything to post the last two!
Personally, i would kinda like it if someone depicted me as a vampire....maybe thats why i am not running for office. Good to see our glorious leaders are hard at work in tough times!
There is some news of the upcoming film "Priest" here.
An adaptation of a TokyoPop comic book, "Priest" is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampire. It follows a warrior priest (Bettany) who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece. Cory Goodman ("The Brood") wrote the screenplay.
For the fashion concious vampire, a video and fashion advice has appeared here. Seems the main thing a vampire needs is...fangs? no...a cape? no...nice vampire contact lenses? no...its a cane, of course.

Attention Twilight fiends! We have casting news for The Twilight Saga: New Moon! Jamie Campbell-Bower, the young hunk who played Rocker in RocknRolla and Anthony in Sweeney Todd, is the newest addition to the Twilight cult...err...cast. Stepping in line with Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson (who reprise their roles as Bella and Edward, respectively), Campbell-Bower will play the leader of the Volturi, an Italy-based gang of vampires. Variety reports that the film, like the book, will center on "Bella being drawn into the world of werewolves while threatened by the Volturi" and will hit theaters November 20th. Like the addition? Think Jamie can pull of that whole "I'm an evil Italian vampire" vibe?

twilight is to blame...
This is on the examiner.com, and many other american news sites this morning. I love these stories...the ones that follow the line of "oh...he listened to rock and / or roll, that is why he killed someone". Much as i dislike twilight, blaming a kid being a pain in the ass in a playground on the film is a little harsh! Good thing the child had not been watching say...Rocky, and went on to punch a bunch of kids in the playground.

A 13-year-old boy is in some trouble after allegedly biting 11 students at a middle school in Des Moines, Iowa. The alleged bites took place between Feb. 10 and March 13 of this year.
The child's father told police that his son didn't mean to hurt anyone and that he was biting other students because of the popular vampire movie "Twilight." Is that supposed to make it okay? "Twilight" has a PG-13 rating.
The child will be facing assault charges in juvenile court.

We have news of three new films in three days! According to Fangoria online, the same film company that produced Twilight, has now lined up an entirely different kind of vampire film (thankfully) with "Elevator Men"
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Summit Entertainment, the home of the TWILIGHT film franchise, is acquiring a screenplay spotlighting the less romantic side of vampirism. Titled ELEVATOR MEN, it’s the first screenplay by former DreamWorks executive Marc Haimes.
That moniker (which will probably change) refers to one of the evil mind games that the story’s creatures play with their human victims. “It’s a reaction to all of these stories now—TV shows and movies—that play this kind of romantic, fantastical, sexy aspect of getting involved with monsters,” Haimes tells the trade. “This is the dark, sinister version of what really happens when you decide you’re going to get close to really bad things. That fantasy element is something I wanted to look at and play the exact opposite: the grim reality of bedding down with a monster.” Mark Gordon, whose credits include SPEED and SAVING PRIVATE RYAN and who is currently an executive producer on REAPER, and Josh McLaughlin of Mark Gordon Productions will be among the film’s producers.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Taye Diggs and Anita Briem have joined the cast of the indie horror film "Dead of Night," currently filming in New Orleans.
The actors join Brandon Routh ("Superman Returns") and Sam Huntington ("Fanboys") in the Hyde Park/Platinum Studios supernatural thriller being directed by Kevin Munroe ("Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles").
Diggs, who stars on ABC's "Private Practice," will play Vargas, the head of a vampire family. Briem ("The Tudors") is Elizabeth, one of Dylan Dog's (Routh's) potential romantic conquests.
Joshua Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly ("Sahara") penned the "Men in Black"-style vampire-werewolf-zombie film, which they adapted from the best-selling 1986 Italian comic series "Dylan Dog."

Hitfix.com has casting news for the upcoming vampire soap "The Vampire Diaries" here
Ian Somerhalder from "Lost" is lined up for one of the lead roles, alongside Nina Dobrev.
Darque Reviews has a new review for the first in a brand new series about a Chicago graduate student's introduction into a society of vampires. Book is titled "Some girls bite" and is by Chloe Neill.
I found a webcomic this morning, interestingly titled "Dracula vs Santa" (Thats Santa, not Santo the dodgy mexican wrestler that did a few vampire films) You can view the first eight pages here, stay tuned, dracula is on the way! By the way...if you have any strong feelings for the easter bunny, dont read...i'm afraid the bunny doesnt make it!

Blood : the last vampire, new trailer

Entertainment Weekly has news of casting for "New Moon" the second twilight film.
"Summit Entertainment has revealed that five Native American/First Nation actors will join Taylor Lautner as members of the wolf pack in The Twilight Saga: New Moon. The announced actors are Chaske Spencer, Bronson Pelletier, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon, and Tyson Houseman. Werewolf characters, in particular Lautner's Jacob Black, will figure prominently in New Moon, due in theaters on Nov. 20."

Twilight goes to DVD and more
Well, after all the midnight twilight parties held over in the states to celebrate the release of twilight, the figures are in...it sold a whopping great 3 million dvd's on that first night, which puts it in the top 5 films from the last 2 years, says Entertainment Weekly.

Here is a general summary of the critics reviews of LVK - not good, is the general concensus.
Videohounds Golden Movie Retriever has posted an article on it's best ten vampire movies here and its a decent list - as in twilight does not win because its the flavour of the month. Article contains trailers for each film, which is nice.
There is an interesting little article here entitled "The emasculation of vampires" - not much i could argue with in this.
Taliesin's post of the day is a snickers bar advert from japan - well worth watching, if you have not seen it - advertise anything with vampires like these and i would buy it, be it chocolate, toothpaste or mushy peas (which i hate, blergh)

Lesbian Vampire Killers release day is here
Looks as though it is getting panned by everyone, but today is the general release day in the UK for the film. Will post Taliesin's review, and the review of Mark Kermode, the BBC film critic as and when they appear.
Speaking of Taliesin, he has spotted a new film that i had missed - Bonnie & Clyde vs Dracula. The film's homepage, with trailer, photos and a bunch of other stuff is here.
Alex Proyas, the director of "The Crow" (my personal favourite film) and current Nicolas Cage flick "The knowing" talks about his next project - "Dracula Year Zero" here - a film depicting the transformation of Prince Vlad into Dracula.
Now this...is something special. James Henderson's Blog of Dracula has found this - Edward Gorey's Dracula - The Animation.
Blood : The last vampire, the big screen version of the popular manga is due to hit UK cinemas on June 12th, 2009. News of its release over in the states is here with the trailer for those of you who haven't seen it.
And...at the end of friday night, heres an update on the Johnny Depp / Dark shadows project - still on, and developments promised soon!

Does anyone need an excuse for a weekend in Dublin? The Irish Film Institute has announced plans for a city wide celebration of Bram Stoker's Dracula. The IFI are planning a weekend of festivities dedicated to the Dracula mythos, running from April 17th to the 19th. Full story here

The Suburban Vampire has a couple of trailers for new films, both of which have been submitted to the Vampire Film Festival. The films are "The Dead Matter" and "Dead Sucks"

Twilight, Lesbian Vampire Killers & sexy vamps poll
I complained yesterday about bandwagons, twilight and silly stuff appearing to make a few bucks...well here is todays award for that category - twilight makeup that makes you sparkle in the sunlight.

Who would have thought undead bloodsucking vampires might just be evil for a change, eh? Author of the review has been watching too much twilight methinks...they are VAMPIRES for pity's sake, not shining examples of how to conduct one's self at dinner parties...
A Canadian poll of 1.8 million people apparantly voted for Pattinson (Twilight) and Salma Hayek (Dusk til dawn) as the sexiest vamps ever portrayed. Read the full article here.

First Post - Thirst, Twilight, Tru Blood & Vampire Comics
Well, here we go...first post of the blog, and i am determined to make it a good one. I'll be posting news and stuff i come across on the web as and when i find it, including download links for books that occasionally become available. On with the vampire news!

Now, we all know that the media & the corporate money making machines have well and truly jumped on the Twilight bandwagon. For me this is the worst kind of vampire film...it brings us vampires that dont want to bite and sparkle in the sunshine...enough said. I read yesterday that Robert Pattison had a panic attack while watching his performance in the film, and that just sums it up - vampires should above all be strong, confident and ready to do what vampires do best...that is bite!
Anyway...i won't rant on the first post, instead i shall provide a link for one of the most pointless twilight stories to appear on the web - lets hope for all our sakes it doesnt happen.
